Although the iRobot Home app is very user-friendly, we've found it to be less reliable than other applications that utilize robotic cleaners. It can take some time to download updates, and it's sometimes difficult to determine if they are working until you see them in action.

If you're looking for an automated vacuum cleaner that can do more than just clean floors, your best robovac choice is probably one that is a hybrid. The Freo X Ultra robot vacuum and mop is a clever well-rounded vacuum and mop. It's capable of vacuuming and mopping. Its design is among the best in the industry however it's quite expensive.

It is a relatively small base station that looks beautiful and can be hidden when not in use. The primary selling point of the station is that it can automate many tasks, chores and functions that other robots leave to you. It can keep clean and dirty water, and then electrolyze and heat the water. Most other robovacs will require you to do this.

Its vacuuming capabilities are also impressive. It's the few robot cleaner commercial vacuums I've tested that does an excellent job of picking up debris on unfinished floors, and it's not as loud as the more expensive Roomba 980 or iRobot 900 series.

But the Freo X Ultra has its faults, especially in terms of navigation. Its LiDAR sensors and laser sensors aren’t as reliable as other robot vacuums. This means that it is prone to getting stuck or confused in certain corners or rooms in the home. It's also not able to climb stairs like other competitors and doesn't come with a dock to create a cleaning area for carpets that are soft.

The Freo X Ultra robot vacuum and mop is a great option for those looking for a vacuum robot that can do everything.

If you're looking to cut costs or aren't averse to the limitations of the robot, there are many other options on the market. Many eufy models cost substantially less. The eufy Qrevo Curv, for example is less expensive and offers the same experience in the app, but with more features, including the ability to climb stairs, a full-function dock, and superior overall performance when vacuuming floors and low and high-pile carpets.

The G30 Hybrid offers a powerful cleaning of hard and carpeted flooring, and mopping functions for a low cost. It's easy to setup by snapping one of the side brushes on, switch it on, and plug it into the charging dock. The app will guide you through the steps needed to connect your G30 to your Wi-Fi. You'll need to leave the dock close to an electrical outlet and ample space for it to move around, however.

The G30 is small, 2.85 inches tall to be precise, which means it will fit under many couches and other furniture with a low clearance. Its design is a little less flashy than some of the rival models, sporting a sleek black finish and three buttons that are physical: Auto Cleaning start/pause, Recharge and Spot Clean (which scrubs an area in a spiral pattern for two minutes). It is also possible to connect the G30 to Amazon Alexa or Google Home for voice commands to perform unscheduled cleaning.

The main aspect that sets the G30 apart from its competitors is the way it cleans. It uses an integrated map to draw an image of the immovable items in its path. It remembers the things it has cleaned and where it cannot access. It automatically returns to the base to recharge and then continues cleaning where it left off.

The G30 is, on the other hand is more affordable and a lot easier to maintain. Its smaller dust canister doesn't need emptying as often and is less prone to suffocating bulky materials like cereal.
