It's less cool when big tech companies potentially spy on your kids while they're playing with the Alexa connected toys or talking with Grandma over Facebook's Portal or even wearing a fitness tracker for kids, because we don't always know the intentions of the people behind that spying.

But the Echo Frames can be fitted with prescription lenses, with Amazon publishing a little guide (PDF) for you to take to a local optician. Amazon gets points here as some other audio-focused smart glasses, such as Bose's $200 Frames Alto and Rondo sunglasses, haven't always made this as easy. Because the glasses I received didn't have prescription lenses, I wore mine with my contact lenses and it worked out fine. After initially launching without them, late last year Bose added the ability to purchase or update its Frames with prescription lenses in the US.

They also lack cameras, outward-facing lights or a heads-up display.  Amazon's Echo Frames drew plenty of attention when they were announced last year among the company's Alexa-powered blitz of new products.

During my testing over the past couple of weeks, I played a lot of music, made several phone calls and asked a bunch of questions to Alexa. I was able to get roughly 6 hours, 40 minutes of battery while doing that mix, though on days where I did more music streaming I noticed the battery drain quicker.

Fitbit doesn't have any Wear OS apps yet, but is expected to have some later this year...even so, there won't be a chance of having Fitbit's full tracking capabilities running on this watch anytime soon. Google Fit apps can be loaded onto the Watch 4 for tracking alongside Samsung Health, but Samsung still expects your data to flow through Samsung Health as well. But Google has its own pair of fitness-tracking apps: Google Fit, and the recently acquired Fitbit.

The law prevents criminals profiting from memoirs, but the pair present the Book Review as a ‘work of fiction', simply changing place names and those of everyone involved, but leaving the story unchanged. But instead of serving his time quietly, the Mail has discovered he has been helping his best friend write a biography.
